Importance of emotional well-being  of youth  What is Emotional Well being? Emotional well-being refers to the emotional quality of an individual's experiences. Emotional well-being is influenced by a variety of psychological, demographic, economic, and situational factors. For example, the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak lowered emotional well-being by 74% in China according to one study. What are emotions ? To truly understand emotional wellness, we must understand what emotions are. The American Psychological Association defines emotion as “a complex reaction pattern, involving experiential, behavioral, and physiological elements, by which individual attempts to deal with a personally significant matter or event.” Why is Understanding Emotional Wellness Important?   SRI LANKA CRISIS What is  Sri Lanka crisis ? The 2019–2022 Sri Lankan economic crisis currently affecting the island nation of Sri Lanka is largely attributed to the economic mismanagement by its incumbent government. It has led to unprecedented levels of inflation, near-depletion foreign exchange reserves, shortages of medical supplies and price increases in basic commodities. How did the crisis start? Rajapaksa carried out  populist tax cuts  in late 2019, reducing revenues just months before the pandemic devastated the economy, with international flights grounded and successive lockdowns ordered. Remittances from overseas Sri Lankan workers dried up as well as many lost their jobs. With foreign-exchange earnings plunging, Sri Lanka struggled to manage its external debt, which had grown in part due to loans from China to fund ambitious infrastructure projects.
